Rachel Schuit (1993) is a theatre maker and performer who explores the intimate encounter between the human body and the landscape. Employing the playful and inquisitive body as her instrument, she seeks to explore the essence of a location, a sense of place.
For her, the body represents a multi-layered realm/space with its own knowledge and recollections, offering new and unfamiliar ways to perceive our surroundings.
Site-specific settings, with their distinct dynamics, elements, and materials, serve as her source of inspiration. Through her art, she strives to immerse her audience in the sensory exploration of a place.
She graduated from Theatre in Education in 2018 and from the Mime department in 2021, both at the Amsterdam University of the Arts.
In 2020 she co-founded Platform Nexus; a makers-house in Weesp, where she alongside 8 other artist of different hybrid disciplines, creates her work.
For further development of her practice as a young artist, she has currently been accepted within the trajectory of Station Noord from 2024-2027.
